Storyline
1951, the time of the "Cold War". The "Iron Curtain" separates different political systems on the Bavarian-Czech border. The 17-year-old high school student Zdena Hyblova, from Aš in the Czech Republic, increasingly comes into conflict with the political circumstances at her school. She sees no other way out than to leave her familiar surroundings. But fleeing is dangerous. She faces heavy prison sentences if she is caught. Nevertheless, she and two friends dare to cross the border illegally at the Bavarian-Czech border near Aš.
About the film/director
Petra Dombrowski, born on 24.9.1963 in Stuttgart, is a filmmaker, graphic artist/illustrator and author. After Abitur she studied graphic design at the private university of applied sciences, Merz Akademie Stuttgart.
Making history come alive! Since 2013 Petra Dombrowski dedicates her main occupation to the reworking of historic subjects with a focus on eastern Europe. The main focus is educational work for different institutions and museums, the transfer into a broad public through text, film, graphic or ilustration.
